Blueberry Dreams Protein Smoothie Recipe
What is the one indulgent food that is actually incredibly healthy for you? For me, the answer is always smoothies. You can make a smoothie taste like a cheesecake or chewy brownie while being packed with nutrients for a healthy body. They are also a fantastic way to get some of the nutrients in your system that you might not get in your everyday meal.
That’s where this smoothie comes into play. I created this blueberry protein smoothie recipe as a post-workout breakfast to help me get fiber and greens that I might not get in my other meals. Not to mention, it tastes like blueberry cheesecake. As a sugar craving maniac, that is precisely what I want in my breakfast.
The best thing about smoothies is you can change them up every day to your needs and wants.
Didn’t work out as hard? Go for a simple banana and protein powder smoothie. Need an extra boost of healthy fats? Add in some avocado. Want a chocolate milkshake but don’t want all those added sugars? Create a chocolate protein shake that tastes too good to be healthy.
I’m not a fan of the same meal each day. While I meal prep, I usually prep everything in sections. This means I’ll cook my proteins up, cut up fruits and veggies, and cook up some carb-loaded goodies. I’ll add them to individual containers.
This way, I have my food prepped, but I still can pick what I want to eat day by day. For me, the simple act of prepping these foods makes me more likely to eat healthier. In all honesty, if you give me chicken and broccoli every day, I might breakdown and cook something not-so-healthy just for a change of pace.
That’s why I created my free pdf smoothie guide. We might not want a blueberry cheesecake smoothie every day, and that’s okay. This pdf gives you plenty of options for any smoothie you’re looking for. Pick an option from each category and create your perfect smoothie.
However, if you ARE in need of this sweet treat, then continue reading!
For the most part, I stick with this blueberry protein smoothie recipe on my workout days. It’s SO easy and quick to make, tastes delicious, and is excellent for sipping while watching a Youtube video or getting ready for the day ahead.

Again, smoothies are great because they are interchangeable. If there is anything you don’t want/like in this recipe, replace it with something else. The options are endless. I personally trade out the blueberries for a mixed berry every now and again for a change of flavor. Be warned though, the combination of red and green will make this look extremely disgusting.
It’s not, though, I promise.
First off, you’ll need a blender, a measuring cup, and something to pour your delicious recipe into. I have an inexpensive blender that works perfectly fine, so you don’t need anything fancy to create this.
In your blender, you’re going to mix water, oat milk, frozen blueberries, and spinach until thoroughly blended. I used oat milk, but you can change this to any dairy product you have on hand. I also use the highest setting on my blender during this step to really help everything get mixed thoroughly.
Next, I’ll add in the cinnamon, chia seeds, and protein powder. When it comes to chia seeds, I know some people don’t like the texture. For that, you can substitute them for ground flaxseed. Personally, I love chia seeds because they have a tremendous amount of fiber and healthy fats that I want in my shake.
These will help you stay full for longer as well as improve your digestive system. If you want an extra healthy fat boost, add in some MCT oil. I’ll do this when I know I’ll be busier and eating less than usual or if I just finished a really intense workout.
When can you drink this?
Anytime you want! Personally, I have this as my post-workout meal. This way, I’m making sure I’m getting the proper amount of protein and nutrients for my muscles. However, you can have this before your workout or in replacement of another meal. Since it is SO nutrient-dense, it really does fill you the same way a meal does.
I know some smoothies out there are ’empty calories’ in a sense that they don’t really fill you up. When this happens, we usually have to eat a meal to ease our hunger, making that smoothie an added calorie intake we didn’t necessarily need.
This smoothie does not do this. I’m the craving queen, and I can honestly say this keeps me happy and full until lunch (sometimes longer depending on the day).
Let me know in the comments below or on my contact page what your favorite smoothie recipe is. Are you more for the fruity taste, or do you love the chocolatey indulgence of those ‘dessert’ smoothies?
Either way, don’t forget to download my free pdf to get options for both types of smoothies! Trust me, after the first one, you’ll feel like a smoothie pro (and you’ll fall in love!).
